I’m mostly just trying to make sense of the mess. :)

I’m a security engineer who likes to pick heavy things up and put them back down for fun.

I tend to view problems through risk, tradeoffs, and patterns, and I get a lot of satisfaction out of turning messy situations into clear next steps.

TL;DR
WHAT I’M ABOUT

I reverse-engineer my own mind the same way I break down security risks or Star Wars lore—through structure, precision, and obsession. I'm not wired for surface-level anything. Whether it's AI, Star Wars, or my own wiring—if something matters, I engage with it full force.

WHAT I CARE ABOUT

Things feeling real and worthwhile are really important to me. I think in patterns by default, and I try to use that to make life feel more understandable, not more dramatic. I love lifting weights, deep-diving into Star Wars lore, staying informed about what’s actually happening in the world, and spending time with my siblings whenever I can. When someone leaves an interaction with me, I want them be able to feel a little lighter, a bit more seen, or a touch more grounded than before. With work, I want the same thing: projects, systems, and teams that are clearer, calmer, and better off because I was there.

WHERE I DO MY BEST WORK

I communicate clearly and bring good energy

I talk like a real person, not documentation. I’m straightforward, clear about uncertainty, and good at explaining why something matters without drowning people in jargon. Once I settle into a team, I’m the person who keeps morale steady by being kind, grounded, and just funny enough to make the room feel lighter without ever crossing a line. Most of my current work has been sitting with dozens of different CISOs, security directors, IT managers, and sysadmins, running hundreds of security assessments and walking people through their actual cyber risk in a way that doesn’t make them shut down.

I care about efficiency and long-term impact

I pay close attention to how work flows and where things can be smoother. I put real effort into improving processes so the people I work with now have an easier time, and so future teams inherit something cleaner and more stable. I like knowing that what I build keeps helping long after I’m done with it. Recently, that looked like building an internal AD tier triage tool that turns a raw export into a clear, prioritized view of high-blast-radius accounts so our customers could see the riskiest problems first.

I’m wired for risk analysis and clean systems

My brain naturally scans for weak points and predictable failure paths, which helps me spot issues early, plan for risk mitigation and keep projects stable. I stay organized, thorough, and steady, and I’m good at breaking down messy situations into clear steps people can actually work with. That kind of structure has helped my teammates stay focused and confident instead of stressed.

HOW I WORK

Dealing With Stress

I don’t blow through stress on pure adrenaline. My first instinct is to pause, get my footing, and figure out the one thing that actually needs to happen. Once I have that, I settle fast and handle what’s in front of me, even if the situation wasn’t ideal or the timing was a mess. It’s not flashy, but it works, and people end up relying on me because I don’t fall apart when something suddenly lands in my lap.

Making Decisions

I don’t fire off quick answers just to look decisive. I take a moment to understand the situation and make sure the details line up, because putting out something half-baked bothers me more than taking an extra beat to get it right. Sometimes that means I hesitate if something feels off or incomplete, but once I’m confident in the direction, I move cleanly and don’t second-guess myself. People know they’re getting work that’s been thought through, not rushed.

RECEIPTS

Mason F. - CSE II - Arctic Wolf

Working with Chad genuinely makes my job easier. He communicates clearly, follows through on what he says he’ll do, and pays attention to the details you actually need to trust someone with. He’s efficient, steady, and brings zero drama to work. When Chad commits to something, it gets done and it gets done well. If you’re working with him, you always know exactly what you’re going to get: clarity, consistency, and someone who makes the environment better.

Jean-Carlos (JC) A., CSE III - Arctic Wolf

As Chad’s captain, I have gotten the chance to really see how his mind works and how he delivers. One thing I really value about working with him is that when things are urgent, he is able to handle challenges thrown at him with precision and speed. He knows exactly how to leverage AI and scripting to get high-quality, targeted results. He understands complex problems fast, and delivers solutions even faster.

He’s the kind of person who takes an idea from zero to completion without ever dropping the ball. As a security engineer, he gets the technical depth of issues and turns that into polished, ready-to-use solutions. He follows through. Every time.

HOW I THINK

I work best when I can slow the problem down, figure out the real constraints, and build a clear mental model before I start deciding anything. I pay attention to patterns and failure points, and I like using tools, automation, and AI to pressure test my thinking instead of guessing. Once I understand the shape of a problem, I organize it into steps I can trust, then refine as I go. My goal is never to be flashy or fast, it’s to get things right in a way that holds up when people depend on it.
